ATC: AL-KO Trailer Control
There are some situations that every driver dreads: Wind gusts or wind pressure during overtaking or sudden evasive manoeuvres can cause the caravan to sway and rock. That’s why AL-KO offers the ATC – AL-KO Trailer Control as an anti-snaking system that can prevent accidents.
How the AL-KO Trailer Control works
Like ESP in a car, the ATC system uses a lateral acceleration sensor to detect swaying movements on the caravan axle. A tolerance range for permissible lateral movements is stored in the system. If this is exceeded, the ATC intervenes before the caravan can start snaking.
The Bowden cables tighten, causing the wheel brakes to be applied. The vehicle combination is stabilised and guided back into the lane. The AL-KO Trailer Control brakes gently, but can still be felt by the driver. However, the brake lights do not come on.
Assembly of the AL-KO Trailer Control
You can use the AL-KO Trailer Control system for all caravans with an AL-KO chassis manufactured 1998 or later. Once installed, there is no maintenance required for the AL-KO ATC system.
The ATC is connected to and powered by the trailer’s junction box. An operational check is automatically performed when the junction box is connected. A green LED on the start-up device indicates operational readiness. However, it cannot be connected to a seven-pin plug.
Your advantage
Suitable up to a gross weight of 3.5 tonnes
Optimised weight and design
Horizontal installation for freedom of installation space and ground clearance
Constant control of the caravan’s lateral movements
Gently intervenes to establish stable vehicle behaviour
Acts earlier and more effectively than stabilisation systems in the towing vehicle
